-but didnt get as much support as men as trade unions saw their job to protect male workers
-tended to support religious parties e.g. ZP (60% votes for them were women)_

-a reaction to french occupation in rhineland
-french troops recruited africans, germans used this as a propaganda campaign
-it said black soldiers were raping white women, french government deliberately using inferior troops to humiliate germany
-designd to put pressure on US to get french to withdraw
