A

-designed to keep democracy
-half seats directly elected, half taken from a list based on the % of votes each party recieved
-parties recieving less than 5% votes couldnt get seats
-FRG based on rule of law
-central government had provision of welfare e.g. pension, healthcare
-president only elected for one term only and had no political responsibility
-president elected by federal convention (mix of bundestag and state governments)

A

-power divided between central and regional governments
-lander represented bundesrat who could ask for laws to be reconsidered/vetoed
-lander had responsibility of provision of education
-federal constitutional courts had responsibility to uphold law and ensure government acted legally, guaranteed basic civil rights and could arbitrate disputes between central and lander
