Q

How to measure how length of wire affects resistance?

A

Create a circuit with a nichrome wire, a battery, an ammeter and a voltmeter
The voltmeter and ammeter should be connected to the wire using crocodile clips.
Attach the nichrome wire to a metre rule.
Adjust the crocodile clips on the wire so they’re on the edges of the wire and turn on the battery.
Record your measurement of the PD and Current
Repeat this, reducing the length of the wire by 10cm each time by closening the crocodile clips.
Use the formula V=IR to find the voltage

Q

How to measure specific heat capacity?

A

A cup of whatever substance you’re measuring the heat capacity of.
Measure it’s mass and record this for later.
Place an immersion heater inside and a thermometer a bit further away from it and make sure the top of the cup is covered to avoid energy loss
The immersion heater should be connected to a battery, voltmeter and ammeter
Once the immersion heater turns on, turn on a timer.
Once the internal heat of the substance increases by 1 degree.
