Preparing For Success Flashcards
(11 cards)
Embracing the approach
All project stakeholders and participants need to understand and accept the DSDM approach
Four elements to build an effective team for successful delivery
- empowerment
- stability
- skills
- size
Appropriate empowerment of SDT
Each role is SDT should be empowered to make decisions based on their expertise, and the team as a whole empowered within the foundation boundaries.
SDT stability
There needs to be continuous, informal and (ideally) face-to-face communication to build a common understanding of the business problem. People should swap in and out
SDT skills
All business knowledge and technical expertise should be present in an SDT team. Good communication and team skills are soft skills required.
SDT size
Optimum size is 7 +/- 2 people (lol)
3 elements of ensuring active and ongoing business engagement
- commitment of business time throughout (initially to shape, latter to guide)
- active involvement of business roles throughout the project to keep the solution correct
- supportive commercial relationship
Iterative development, integrated testing and incremental activity
Every time box should deliver a complete, potentially deployable increment of a solution even if not enough to actually deploy
So testing super important, to reduce risk
Transparency
Progress and ongoing work should be visible to all. Best ways are:
- time boxes
- daily stand up
- team boards
What is a project approach questionaire
A simple checklist to assess whether success factors above are likely to be met, or whether action needs to be taken to counter the risk arriving from them being undermined.
When is a PAQ first used
During feasibility phase to help shape the foundations and at the foundations to help finalise the approach to be taken by the project for development and delivery to active product risks
