The DSDM process (Phases) Flashcards
(7 cards)
What are the 6 phases of the DSDM process?
- pre-project phase
- feasibility phase
- foundations phase
- evolutionary development phase
- deployment phase
- post-project phase
Pre-project phase
Ensures only the right projects are started, and that they are set up correctly based on a clearly defined objective
Feasibility phase
Intended to establish whether a project is likely to be feasibly technically and cost effective. Ultimate q: is it worth further investigation or should we stop?
Foundations phase
Intended to create a fundamental but not detailed understanding of the business rationale, the potential solution, how development and delivery will be managed.
Not too detailed - should last a few weeks. Basically: scope of work, how it will be carried out, by whom and where
Evolutionary development phase
Evolves the situation from the firm foundations. SDT should be doing iterative development, time boxing, and MoSCoW with modelling and facilitated workshops, to converge to create an accurate solution that meets the business need built technically right.
Deployment phase
Bring it into operational use. The release deployed may be a subset of the ultimate solution, or the ultimate solution.
After last release, project is closed.
Post project phase
After the final deployment the post-project phase checks how well the expected business needs have been met.
