- How do you define the BOUNDARIES of the FLOWCHART?
START and STOP symbols, which are like an elongated pill, with rounded edges, flat side at bottom and top, and the word START or STOP written inside.
- What does the flow of the work look like?
It should flow form LEFT TO RIGHT, or TOP TO BOTTOM.
- What symbol indicates FLOW?
A THIN ARROW LINE with an arrowhead pointing in the direction of the work flow.
- What is the symbol for a VALUE CREATING ACTIVITY?
a RECTANGLE, long sides at bottom and top.
- What is the symbol for a NON VALUE CREATING activity?
the CIRCLE, the CAPITAL D, the UPSIDE DOWN TRIANGLE, the RHOMBUS, the large ARROW (with text inside it).
- What is the symbol for OUTPUT THAT IS PRINTED ON PAPER?
a RECTANGLE, where the bottom side appears to be a Wave, or an S on its side, with the Document Name written inside it.
- What is the symbol for ELECTRONIC OUTPUT (data entered)?
a CYLINDER, seen in perspective.
- What are the symbols for a CONNECTOR ON THE SAME PAGE and a CONNECTOR ON A DIFFERENT PAGE?
a. a CIRLE for a CONNECTOR ON THE SAME PAGE.
