What is clearance?
Volume of plasma “cleared” of drug per unit time eg. Lh-1 or mlmin-1.
What is a drug receptor?
A macromolecular component of a cell with which a drug interacts to produce a response. Usually a protein.

What is affinity?
Measure of propensity of a drug to bind to its receptor; the attractiveness of a drug and receptor.
What is efficacy?
Ability of a bound drug to change the receptor in a way that produces an effect; some drugs possess affinity but NOT efficacy.
What drugs should you avoid prescribing to patients with renal disease?
Metformin and NSAIDs.
