What is an abstract
1/2 para at the start of a psychological report that act as a summary, include the aim, sample,method and major results and conclusions
Purpose of an abstract
Speed up the research process, conduct a literature review (read a wide range of papers related to their study) allowing researcher to identify if the article is relevant and if they should read the report in full to not
Introduction
Acts as a guide to the academic background, acting as a justification for why the research is being conducted. Introduction will explain the aim and give the hypothesis
Method
A complete guide outlining John the research was conducted, this Level of detail allows other researchers to replicates the study exactly
This includes;

Design
Outline factors the researcher has chosen in how to conduct lab study
- what research method was chosen (obs or lab) what design (lab, field)
- covert or overt obs

Stats test performed on data to see if it passes req levels of significance
Discussion
- Explains what the data analysis in the results section acc means eg should alt/research hypothesis be accepted
Does the finding support or contradict previous research, creating new questions that could be investigated in the future - researcher can even criticisise their own research and identify extraneous variables
Referencing section
An alaphabetical list using surnames of research studies used to inform the current research
Providing credit to other researchers ideas - avoiding plagiarism
- helps future researchers to identify the authors sources and find related studies
How to write a reference
1) start w surname and initials
2) publication date in brackets
3) name of book/article
4) location of publication
5) name of publisher
