* Can contained additional features that the company doesn’t need which can reduce the performance of the system.
This is similar to open source software. Code is free to download and edit as required and therefore offers some flexibility.
Disadvantage/ advantage
Advantages:
Bespoke
Cheaper than off the shelf operating system.

o Range of options available.
Increased security-flaws are caught before they become an issue.
Disadvantages:
Difficult to find applications that are compatible.
。 Hardware drivers (the software to allow connections to hardware) may not be available. * Support is via forums and blogs - answer not always guaranteed.
* More training required as it can be unfamiliar.
Bespoke operating systems provide an alternative customised solution for many companies. Advantages:
Only has features that are needed, therefore faster.
o Designed specifically to meet personal or business need.
* All features relate to the needs of the business.

Limitations:
o Expensive and takes time to create.
o Updates can take longer and require consultation with all involved.
