Q
Risk factor for CVDs: GENETICS
A
Have an anti-platelet antigen gene (apolipoprotein) that causes platelets to be overly active when forming blood clots, and may cause cholesterol to bind with the endothelial cells. This increases the likelihood of thrombosis and atherosclerosis

Q
Why do people over estimate risk?
A
- the risk is out of their control eg. Natural disaster
- the risk is unnatural eg. Car crash
- the risk is unfamiliar eg. Thallassemia
- the risk is dreaded eg. Ebola
- the risk is unfair eg. Accidental falls
- risk is very small eg. Pregnancy death
