Science (chemical reactions) Flashcards
(11 cards)
Law of conservation of mass
Mass is not created or destroyed.
Total mass of reactants = products.
Identify reactants/products
Reactants: Before the arrow
Products: After the arrow
Precipitation reactions
Soluble salt A + Soluble salt B → Solid product (precipitate) + Soluble salt C
How to make neutral compounds?
Combine cations (+) and anions (−) to make neutral compounds.
Endothermic/Exothermic?
Endothermic: Absorbs heat.
Exothermic: Releases heat.
Combination reactions
A+B–>AB
2 or more compounds combine to form one compound
Combustion reactions
Compound containing carbon + O^2 –> water H2O + carbon dioxide CO2
Decomposition reactions
Opposite of combination
AB–> A+B
Neutralisation reactions
Acid +Base–>Salt +Water H2O
Displacement reactions
A+BC–>AC+B
How to see if the compound is acid or base?
Acid have OH at the back, Base has H in the front
