Q

what happens when sensory neurone detects sensation

A

an action potential then travels across nerve passing along the myelinated axon then, an electrical signal is converted into a chemical signal to cross the synapse

Q

relay neurone

A

function: after synaptic transmission a new action potential forms in the dendrites this neurone is in the spine and sends signals to the cns and along its axon to the motor neurone

Q

motor neurone

A

function: detect signal from relay neurone via synaptic transmission and passes the signal along its own myelinated axon to stimulate an effector
(eg: muscle group in arm moving it away from pain source)
