Intentional Reading
what the author is trying to tell us through the text; assumes underlying plan, coherent design, texts intention to communicate
Symptomatic Reading
what the text tells us about the author (and society)
Anthology
a collection of texts, usually with a specific focus
Conscious Target
a deliberate and aware goal or aim for the author when crafting a work of literature, in relation to intentional reading
Unconscious Target
non-direct aims that address society, in relation to symptomatic reading
Textual Devices
tools writers use to enhance writing and create certain effects on readers
Repetition
the recurrence of an action or event
Personification
the attribution of a personal nature or human characteristics to something non-human, or the representation of an abstract quality in human form.
