- continuous, serial and discrete
- self paced and externally paced
- open and closed
- gross and fine
- high organisation and low organisation
- complex and simple
What is a continuous skill?
Has no obvious beginning or end, they could be continues indefinitely, the end of one cycle becoming the beginning of the next.
What is a discrete skill?
Defined start and end point and is one short and sharp action
What is a serial skill?

What is and externally paced skill?
The pacing of the skill is decided/controlled by something or someone external to the performer(the performer has no control over when to start the skill or how fast it might be performed).
What is an open skill?
