what led to the spanish fury
by 1576, spanish gov in N was all but bankrupt.
despite the silver and riches being brought in from the New World, the cost of wat was too great for Spain to continue at the same pace
so the spanish forces in the N finally mutinied aftfer months without pay
what were the events of the spanish fury
rampaged throuhg dutch provinnces and sacked(to rob a town or city using violence) Antwerp in Nov 1576
the violence in antwerp united all 17 dutch provinces, cath and protestant afainst spain.
what was the pacification of ghent
the 17 dutch provinces drew up the pacification of Ghent. this demanded:
- all spansihtroops to be expelled from the N
- restoration of political autonomy
- an ennd to religious persecution
what did elizabeth do to ensure that the pacification of the Ghent was carried out
sent a loan of 100,00 to the dutch rebels and agreed to send an expeditionary force to the N to help ensure that the PoG was carried out
