What are mnemonics?
Mnemonics are memory tricks or strategies that help you remember things by making the information more meaningful.
How do oral and written cultures differ in their use of mnemonics?
Oral cultures often use stories, songs, or rhythms to remember information, while written cultures tend to use acronyms, lists, or diagrams.
What is an acronym in memory techniques?
An acronym is when you make a WORD using the first letters of things you want to remember.
Acronym = “WORD from first letters”
What is an acroStic?
An acrostic is a mnemonic where the first letter of each item becomes the first letter of a new word in a memorable phrase, rhyme, or poem.
AcroStic= “Sentence from first letters”
What is the method of loci?
It’s a mnemonic technique where you turn items into mental images and place them in specific locations (like rooms in a house) in your mind to help remember them.
“Loci = Locations” — Imagine walking through a familiar place and spotting each item you need to remember in a different room.
