A conditional probability compares the probability of a consequential stimulus change following a particular response class, versus the probability of that same exact stimulus change following a random moment during the observation. A positive contingency is seen when the consequence is more likely to follow an occurrence of the response class then it is likely to follow a random moment in time, While negative contingency is seen when the consequence is less likely to follow the response class then a random moment in time. A no contingency or zero contingency,Would therefore be If the consequence was equally likely to occur after the occurrence of the behavior as it would be to follow a random moment.
