8 yards because if it’s the biggest size for a heavy load
What are the different types of chainlift skip?
Enclosed (or lidded), open and drop-door.
Why would you want a drop door skip?
As the door drops down, it gives easier access e.g. for a wheelbarrow to be wheeled in and drop waste.
What do compactor skips do and what materials would you put in?
Compactors compact waste by hydraulic ram or press. It would compact light materials (plastics, cardboard) that take up space.
Where would you enter a new container size?
Nuts & Bolts > Administration > Containers > Container Sizes

False, you can also enter in metres.

A crane-liftable hook skip are certified for safe suspension and lifting by cranes.
What do you need before setting up containers?
Set up container sizes and container types.
What are container serial numbers used for?
Primarily for tracking what container is on what site.
What are the three approaches to using serial numbers?
- Physically number the skips by paint
- Number the skips but do not keep track
- Do not number the skips (but we will keep track behind the scenes)
Can you change the container size once the container has been used?
No, because it would distort the history
Can you delete the container before it has been used?
Yes, as long as it hasn’t been used.
If you can’t delete the container what’s the alternative?
Make it inactive.
When can’t you make a container inactive?
When it’s physically on site and in use.
How is it helpful to the client to track serial numbers and what is the danger of this information being input manually?
When the driver enters the information of the container for collection, and the replacement container (i.e. an exchange), we know exactly which container is on what site. The danger is that the driver enters the information either incorrectly or not at all, meaning the client’s planners can not effectively plan the jobs for the drivers, decreasing efficiency.
