6
Q

Formation of a tropical storm

A

Warm ocean water (27°C+) causes moist air to rise.
2. Rising air cools and condenses, forming thunderstorm clouds and releasing latent heat.
3. This fuels more rising air, creating low pressure.
4. Air rushes in, rises, and the storm begins to spin (due to the Coriolis effect).
5. A circular storm system forms with a calm eye in the centre.
