Protestant churches were more open to women, they baptized all. Dominant view: men in public women in private. With middle class growing, women could afford to go public.
Justifications for Sexism
Christ was male, so females can’t represent him. Earlier churches did the same thing.
Marriage in Islam
Divorce is possible, but discouraged. Sexual equality in marriage. Polygyny is allowed, but only as exception.
