What are the distinctions of transcriptions?

Broad vs narrow and systematic vs impressionistic.

Describe broad transcription.
A
Phonemic transcription. Only enough detail to recreate the message.

A
Phonetic transcription. Used to show more phonetic detail (allophonic variation)

Describe systematic transcription.
A
Shows how a string of words is usually pronounced in a language variant.

A transcription based on what is heard and not on any rules.

Stress is a property of syllables. Each word has one primarily stressed syllable which is the most prominent syllable.
