What is the main difference between declarations and certificates?
Declarations are produced on-board and authorized by the Captain, while certificates are issued by flag states or recognized authorities.
What is the purpose of a declaration?
To declare what the yacht is bringing into a country, including both goods and people.
Who requires declarations?
Both customs and immigration authorities.
Where can the exact documents required for declarations be found?
In the Ports and Terminals guide, government websites, and from the local agent.
Where can templates of declarations be found?
On the IMO website or issued by the agent.
What specific information is included in each declaration?
Yacht name, official number, IMO number, call sign, port of registry, company name and address, gross and net tonnage, date and estimated time of arrival, port of arrival, last port of call, date and estimated time of departure, next port of call, Captain’s stamp and signature.
