People stood around until the body was burned away, flames were put out with wine, and the burned bones were placed in a funeral pot for burial.

What was done at the burial site
Men buried the body or remains. Women went home to prepare a feast. A grave was covered with dirt and a stele (stone marker).

how did family members honour deceased after burial
They returned often to the grave, leaving offerings of oil, food, and wine. The stele was decorated with ribbons and flowers. Wine could be poured into the earth through a tube so the dead could "drink" it.
