Its the guidance and policy for fighting BRAVO class fires in machinery spaces.
Who is required to maintain a robust fire marshall program?
All cutters are required.
When shall cutters conduct familiarization training with local fire departments?
Shall conduct training at least biannually, within 1 month of a COC or following a 55% or more cutter crew personnel turnover.
Where shall the MSFD be located on the cutter?
Shall be accessible in damage control central, main control/central control station, repair lockers, pilothouse and each main space.
What are the preventive measures that will significantly reduce the risks of fires in machinery spaces?
Frequent inspections, properly stow and protect all combustibles, test and inspect fire suppression routinely, perform fire drills frequently, maintain flange shields on required flammable liquid piping, maintain proper covers on flammable liquid strainers, take immediate action to stop and repair all oil leaks, clean up oil spills and leaks, keep vent ducts and bilge’s clean, prevent stockpiling excess flammables, maintain all firefighting, properly maintain all machinery space damage control closures and fittings, follow proper tagout procedures.
What may happen if you spray water on a battery?
It may cause an explosion.
