have doli incapax: can't be charged with an offence, presumed innocent as they lack mens rea.

10-13

rebuttable presumption of doli incapax. Presumed not capable of committing offence. Prosecution must prove the child understood knew the difference between severely wrong and naughty

14-15 years old

criminally responsible, but no conviction recorded unless a serious offence

16-17 years old

criminally responsible for any offence and conviction may be recorded, heard in children's court

5

18 years or older

full adult criminal responsibility
