  • major - the order and case is as followed: I, ii, iii, IV, V, vi, viio
  • natural minor: i, iio, III, iv, v, VI, VII
  • harmonic minor is the same as natural minor but the raised 7th makes v to V and VII to viio
  • this is common
  • this also creates an augmented triad on the third of the scale
  • melodic is most commonly use because composers want the changed tones at times but not all of the time
