endometriosis interna - endometrium and underlying stroma present within myometrium
~40yo
fibroids and endometriosis
Sx subside

the extent is variable

severe - pockets of menstrual blood in myometrium of hysterectomy specimens

A

Sx poss absent - painful reg heavy menstruation common
uterus mildly enlarged and tender
USS but seen on MRI

MGMT

  • what may control dysmenorrhea and HMB?
  • what often needed?
  • some women have what? why?
A

prog IuS or COCP w/wo NSAIDs
often need hysterectomy
some have trial on GnRH analogues - to determine if hysterectomy will improve Sx
