Q

factors affecting agility

same as factors affecting speed as agility requires speed

A

greater percentage of fast-twitch fibres generate increased force production and power output, therfore increasing speed
males have greater speed due to increased testosterone levels, therefore greater muscle mass, which provides the capacity to generate more force, increasing speed
as age increases, speed decreases as there is a decreased ability to use protein leading to decreased muscle mass, reducing speed
faster reaction time, greater reaction speed (when responding to stimulus)
greater flexibility, greater speed - greater range of motion meaning athlete can get further in each stride, making them more efficient in texhnique and increasing speed
