What is an Airworthiness Directive?

A

A notice by the FAA that defines an unsafe condition that commonly occurs in an aircraft type and prescribes the appropriate corrective actions.
Airworthiness directives for your aircraft must be met in order for your aircraft to be deemed airworthy.
Proof of compliance should be documented in the aircraft maintenance records.
Before every flight, the PIC must ensure that the aircraft is airworthy and under compliance of all ADs.
