Annual Inspection
Conducted every 12 calendar months.
Required for both VFR and IFR flight
VOR Inspection
Every 30 Days
Required for IFR Flights Only
100 Hour Inspection
Every 100 hours of aircraft operation per the Hobbs meter.
Only required for aircraft used for hire (both VFR and IFR)
100 Hour can be completed up to ten hours after the hour it is due, if it is flying to a place to get the inspection completed.
For Hire
Means that a flight is being used for compensation or hire.
Ex: Hiring a pilot and his/her airplane to give you a tour on a vacation.
Another example would be a student pilot paying a flight instructor for flight instruction and the use of an airplane owned by the flight instructor.
Altimeter
Every 24 calendar months
Required for IFR flights only
Transponder
Every 24 calendar months
Required for:
Flight within a mode C veil
Flight inside Class A, B, or C airspace
Flight above Class B, or C airspace
Flight above 10,000’ MSL
ELT Transmitter
Functional check is required every 12 calendar months
Battery must be replaced at half it’s used life or one hour of cumulative operation
Required for both IFR and VFR flight
Static and Pitot
Every 24 Calendar Months
Only required for IFR flight

When would you ever see an an aircraft’s engine logbook with no operating history?
If the aircraft has a brand new engine, and therefore the engine has no operating history.
