Private Pilot Pay
A private pilot cannot fly a passenger or passengers that pay for more than their pro-rated share of the flight.
A commercial license is required to be paid to fly.
The costs of a flight are considered: fuel, oil, airport expenditures, or rental fees.
The ONLY Exceptions to Being Paid more than the Pro-Rata Share
Passengers paying if a donation is made to a charitable organization for the flight, as long as the organization meets requirements described in FAR 91.146 and the pilot complies with the same requirements.
A private pilot may be reimbursed for expenses incurred for flying for search and location operations, provided that the expense only involve, fuel, oil, airport expenditures, or rental fees, and the operation is sanctioned under the direction of:
A local, state, or federal agency
An organization that conducts search and rescue operations
A private pilot may, for compensation or hire, act as a pilot in command of an aircraft in connection with any business or employment if:
The flight is only incidental to that business or employment
The aircraft does not carry passengers or property for compensation or hire.
