A

Ppts we’re 36 males n 36 females aged over 4yrs on average
.male n female adults each served in role model n ppts put in room one at a time . ppts subdivided n split in half -aggressive condition and repeated in non aggressive
6boys-same sex model/opposite
6girls-same sex model/opposite
CG with no role model

A

Bobo doll ,hammer ,other toys.aggressive model hit ,bobo doll with hammershouted abuse at it.non aggressive played with toys n ignored doll.after witnessing it 10 mins ppts taken down corridor in another room ,experienced aggression arousal (told couldn’t play with toys -saved for other kids but could play in neighbouring room.
This room had range of toys -3 foot bobo doll mallet dart guns n non aggressive toys .
Ppts observed for 20 mins researchers rated extent of Imitation of behaviour.

Results
N conclusions

A

Children that observed aggressive behaviour acted more aggressively
Boys more than girls ,greater level of Imitation of same sex
Boys more than girls ,
Children learn social behaviour eg aggression by observing behaviours of others
Most likely when behaviour modelled by somone with same gender

Banduras research summary for key points in essays

A

Boys n girls aged roughly 4yrs observed male or female adult.half observed aggressive, other non aggressive. Also CG not exposed to model.aggresive modle hit n shouted abuse at model .non played n ignored model after ppts witnessed for 10 mins ppts taken down corridor to another room where experienced aggression arousal -told not allowed to play with those toys cus reserved for other children but could play with toys in the neighboring room.this room contained range of toys n bobo doll.found kids observing aggressive behaviour acted more aggressively .boys more than girls .greater level of Imitation with same sex role models .concluding children learn social behaviours like aggression by observing behaviours of others that’s most likely modelled by somone of same gender

Evaluation
Experimental method

A

Used controll conditions (room filled with toys)
To discover causal relationship between modelling n imitation of aggression
Manipulated gender n behaviour of model IV
Asses accurate measure of children’s behaviour (DV)
Cause n effect established

Evaluation
Low ecological val

A

Conducted in unfamiliar controlled environment (room with toys)
No interaction between child n model ,model n child strangers ,effects of modelled aggression measured almost immediately
Conditions unlikely to happen irl
Snapshot so exadurated effects of meddling behaviour

Used children as ppts

A

Children may of thought they were tested for right response n so required to behave aggressively towards doll.impossible t establish if pptswould of imitated aggressive behaviour had they not been in lab setting -may not reflect true behaviour
If in this case not valid

Unethical

A

Manipulated some ppts to respond in aggressive manner n purposely made all kids experince aggression arousal cause ppts to experince psychological harm eg stress
Raises concerns n wouldn’t be acceptable under current BPS guidelines for protection of ppts
