What are attributions
Explanations we make to understand why people behave the way they do
Internal and external attributions
Internal: behavior due to personal traits
External: behavior due to environment
Stable versus unstable attributions
Stable: cause is unchanged
Unstable: cause is changed
Controllable versus uncontrollable
Controllable: person can influence outcome
Uncontrollable: person can’t

Correspondent inference theory
Infer traits from behavior when behavior is FREELY chosen, unique effect or unexpected
Correspondence bias/ fundamental attribution error
Tendency to over attribute behavior to personality
