What’s the function of platelets
A
When you damage a blood vessel platelets clump together to clot the wound
They imaginatively named it “blood clotting”
Blood clots stop you loosing too much blood and prevent bacteria/microorganisms entering

What’s the role of plasma
A
To carry everything around the body
E.g. Urea, co2, digested food

What are the four main components of blood
A
- plasma
- platelets
- red blood cells
- white bled cells

What do red blood cells do
A
They transport oxygen from the lungs to all the cells in the body

How are rbc adapted to their job
A
- have a small biconcave shape to give a large surface area for absorbing and releasing oxygen
- small so can easily fit through capillaries
- don’t have a nucleus so more free space to carry oxygen
