Plants photosynthesise using up lots of co2 from the atmosphere and produces o2 as a waste product
As more co2 is used up in the lead more co2 is diffused in from an area of high concentration to a lower concentration
The O2 made as a waste product is used in respiration and the rest diffuses out through stomata

Plants can only photosynthesise in the day
In the day they release oxygen and use up co2, as they take in more O2 by photosynthesis than they use in respiration
So at night they take in oxygen as they can’t photosynthesise and release co2
