Chemical impulses sent on the blood
Differences between nerves and hormones
Nerves last for a short time and act on a precise area and have a fast message
Hormones have a slower message that acts for a long time and in a more general way
How are hormones carried

Effect: increases permeability of kidney tubules to water

Role:readies body for fight or flight
Effects:increases heart rate, blood flows to muscles and blood sugar level

Role:main male sex hormone
Effects: make secondary characteristics w.g. Facial hair
Insulin
Source:pancreas
Role:helps control the blood sugar level
Effects:stimulates the liver to turn glucose into glycogen for storage
Progesterone
Source:ovaries
Role:main female sex hormone
effects: controls the menstrual cycle and promotes female secondary characteristic e.g. Widening of hips
