- MOI
- Tachyponea
- Dyponea
- Obvious wound
- Reduced/unequal chest movement
- Emphysema
- Cyanosis
- Reduced or absent air entry
- Hyper resonance
- Localised pain on palpation

How can you manage/treat an open pneumothorax? (5)
A
- Check, clear maintain airway
- 100% oxygen
- Apply chest seal
- Seal exit wounds
- Evacuate asap

- Blunt chest trauma
- Penetrating chest trauma

How can you recognise a tension pneumothorax? (5)
A
- ALOC
- Cyanosis
- Tracheal deviation
- Absent breath sounds on one side
Hyperresonance on injured side

How can we manage/treat a tension pnemothorax?
A
- Check, clear, maintain airway
- Give oxygen
- RISE’N’FALL
- If three signs are found, decompression required BY MO OR QUALIFIED PERSON

- Obvious wound
- Unequal chest movement
- Unexplained shock
- Cyanosis
- Pain on palpation

- Evacuate asap
- Cover wounds
- Continue PHC
