Consequences of sexual orientation discrimination for LGBTQ
- More stress at work, higher chances of burnout
- Not less affective, so doesn’t affect performance
- Bi-sexual –> lower job satisfaction
Backlash
When you come out and people know it, they discriminate against you
Indirect discrimination
Has to do with the visibility of being part of the LGBTQ. You haven’t told anyone that your part of the community, but still your colleagues are talking bad about it
Treatment discrimination
Potential differences in personal and organizational outcomes. –> salary differential (mostly lower for gay men and higher for lesbians)

When you bring people into the workforce
Counterfeiting
Making up a heterosexual identity in order to appear heterosexual
Avoidance
When the person tries to control the conversation and behavior, so the issue does not come up
Integration
When the person freely discloses sexual orientation
