Explain the National Labour Service set up by the Nazis
The National Labour Service set up by the Nazis gave young men jobs in the countryside such as digging ditches and planting trees.
the Nazis provided work building roads,schools hospitals,railways and in making the army bigger by building tanks, fighter planes and battleships.
What other ways did the Nazis use to reduce unemployment?
Women who gave up work to have a family were not counted in official unemployment figures.
The Nazis also created jobs by sacking people.For example, many Jews were fired from their jobs and were replaced by non-Jews. The Nazis did not count the unemployed Jews in their figures
How did Hitler believe women should be treated?
Hitler believed that a woman’s most important job was to have children.
Women were encouraged to stay at home and be good wives and mothers.Loans were given to newly married couples to encourage them to have children.

The Nazis controlled newspapers,films,radios and books and made sure they have Nazi ideas.
One of Hitler’s most trusted supporters,Joseph Goebbels made placed loud speakers on the streets so that people could hear Hitler’s speeches.
Books written by communist or Jewish authors were destroyed.
Jazz was also banned because it was mainly played by black American musicians, and war films were destroyed because it showed a drunk German sailor.

Hitler believed that humans were divided into races and some races were superior to others.
He felt the superior races like Germans needed to remain pure and not mix with other races.
He believed that Germans had the right to dominate inferior races such as Jews,Roma and Sinti
What did Hitler think about disabled people and people with learning difficulties?
Hitler believed that disabled people or people with learning difficulties damaged the purity of German race.
Hitler dealt men and women from families with hereditary illnesses by having operations to sterilise them. Thousands of people with learning difficulties were killed.

deprive of the ability to produce children.
How did the Nazis used the Olympic Games held in Berlin in 1936 to promote Nazi ideas.
German Olympic squad came top of the medals table. Hitler claimed how talented and strong the German race was and how it was superior to other races.
The Germans used the games as a chance to show their technology called the photo finish equipment. The stadium also contained the largest stop-clock ever made.

How was the Pre-war Jewish Life?
Many Jews were assimilated into the country in which they lived. Majority of Jews saw themselves first as Germans just like any other people.
When the Nazis gained power, Jews were simply defined by the fact that they were Jews.
Hitler was determined to stay in power, so what did his secret police do?
Hitler’s secret police, Gestapo hunted down anyone who might be against him. They could arrest and imprison anyone without trial.
They could also set up a web of informers to report anyone who was not a loyal Nazi. For example, Children were encouraged to report on their parents or teachers if they spoke out against the Fuhrer.

How did the Nazi achieve their aims to produce strong young people.
The Nazis changed Germany’s school system. Young people had to belong to a Nazi youth organisation from the age of ten.
Boys and girls were in separate groups and spent a few evenings a week and few weekends a year learning new skills and being taught how to show loyalty to Hitler.
Boys learned military skills while girls learned mainly about cookery and motherhood.
What did Hitler want from young people?
Hitler wanted young people to be loyal to him and the Nazi Party. He wanted young men who were fast, tough and hard as steel.
Hitler also wanted strong and practical girls to be wives and mothers of future generation of soldiers.
