Chapter 8 Flashcards
(9 cards)
HD interactions of light and electrons
Endergonic process → Requries Energy from Light E
CC components of chloroplasts
Outer membrane
Intermembrane
inner membrane
Stroma (Inside Space)
granum (Stacks of CD)
Thylakoids (CD)
CC photosystnesis I and II
photosystems 2 then 1
6CO2 + 6H2O + E -> C6H12O6 + 6O2
CO2: Reduced
O2: Oxidized
photosystems 2
Light hits the pigment in PS 2
E passed to P680 and oxidized to P680+
E transferred to 1 e- acceptor
1 e-acceptor goes through ETC to TK Space to make H+
H+ diffuses through ATP synthase (facilitated diffusion)
ATP Synthesis
Water reduces P680+ to P680 and releases O2
photosystems 1
E hits LHC pigments in PS1
E passed to P700 and oxidized to P700+
E transferred to 1 e- acceptor
1 e- acceptor goes through ETC to Ferredoxin(FD)
NADP+ -> NADPH
Used E from PS2 reduces P700+ -> P700
Calvin Cycle (3)
Does Require ATP and NADPH from (PS2 and PS1)
3 phases: carbon fixation, reduction, RuBP regeneration
- Carbon Fixation:
3 CO2 (1C) + 3 (RuBP, 5C) = 3 unstable 6C Compound -> 6 (3C PGA)
- Reduction
6 PGA -> 6 ATP to 6 ADP and 6 NADPH to 6 NADP+ -> 6 G3P
1 = sugar and 5 = regeneration
3.RuBP regeneration
5 G3P -> 3 ATP to 3 ADP -> 3 RuBP and starts over again
