What is your understanding of the term confidentiality?
Where information is provided but subject to confidence and not share without permission.
What is the Freedom of Information Act 2005?
UK Legislation that controls the access to official information.
Permits the public right of access to information held by public authorities.
What is the Data Protection Act 2018?
UK Legislation which implements the EU GDPR.
Sets out how personal data is managed by organisations.
What is an individuals right under the Data Protection Act 2018?
To be granted access to their information.
To understand how their data is being used.
To have their data erased.
What different sources of information do you use in your day to day surveying?
RICS Guidance Notes.
Contract Documentation.
Cost Plans.
Previous Tenders.
Benchmarked data.
Pricing Books, such as SPONS.
How do companies ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018?
Only retain data they need to perform their day to day operations.
Inform the person who’s data they are holding.
Hold the data securely.
can you give some examples of where you go to find pricing information to help carry out an estimate?
Would depend on level of estimating, but BCIS, Pricing Books, Elemental Analysis, in-house cost data base etc
What is a non-disclosure agreement?
Non-disclosure agreements are used to protect against the disclosure or sharing of any confidential data.
Prior to the confidential data being share with a recipient, clients will typically request that the recipient signs up to an NDA.
They are often used when confidential, sensitive, innovative or intellectual property information is being shared to prevent this information being used by competitors.
Why was the Data Protection Act 2018 brought in?
To align with EU General Data Protection Act and catch up with advances in technology.
Many feel it was a direct result of Brexit and the way individuals data was stored during the campaigns on both remain and leave.
What is GDPR?
General Data Protection Regulation.
Legal framework which governs how personal data is collected, stored and used within the European Union.
