Domination of Grnd
Domination of grnd between opposing forces is carried out in same way as in plains. Enumerate the points that need special emphasis in mtn. [2POW] – 4
(a) Ptls should operate well fwd & on flks of def posns. Their role will be to carry out aggressive ptling & raids & to lay ambushes during day & ni, deep in en area.
(b) Ptls should be assigned task of holding key features, to prevent en from carrying out close recce of own def posns.
(c) Once svl devices are introduced into service they should be suitably deployed & incorporated in overall EW system.
(d) Well sited OPs on dominating features, particularly on flks, are the chief means of obtaining info about en mov.
CA Stage
What are the points that should be borne in mind while carrying out CA in mtn? [RIIL] – 4
(a) Res are rarely aval & are normally committed to grnd.
(b) It is nec to clearly discern en’s intentions before launching a CA, otherwise if en has been able to deceive defender as to his intention, res may be committed in wrong place.
(c) If sufficient no. of heptrs are aval CA force can be concentrated at preselected firm base with speed for which proper drills must be practiced.
(d) Launching of a CA in mtns is hazardous & time consuming, as tps have to move from one feature to another.
