Coy Trg in Mtn
Organization of suitable coy gps with sp arms under comd should form basis of this trg. As much realism & variety as possible, should be introduced. Exs should include fol: [MALL EOD RN] - 9
(a) Mov by means of various types of tpt.
(b) Attk by infil.
(c) Local CA at coy or pl level.
(d) Long distance ptls & raids.
(e) Estb & clearing of rd blocks.
(f) Operating self-contained on independent tasks for 5-7 days.
(g) Drills for escorting convoys & piqueting of L of C.
(h) Repairs of damaged rds & trs.
(i) Ni appch & infil to occupy commanding heights behind en fwd def loc, or on a flk, before day lt.
Collective Trg Ex in MTN
Long exs should not be held until all ranks have been progressively brought up to rqr standard of physical fitness. Exs should be designed to cover fol aspects: [(PG)2 Teach Understand] - 6
(a) To practice fmns & units to operate on man-pack & mule-pack basis, self-contained for a specified no. of days.
(b) To practice tps in establishing camps, cooking & in making themselves comfortable with ltd resources aval, including living off the land.
(c) To give experience in selection of routes & in keeping dir by ni or day.
(d) To give confidence to all ranks in their ability to live & move, in mtns in all types of weather.
(e) To teach care & maint of eqpt.
(f) To understand en org & tactics & develop counter meas.
Collective trg in MTN should culminate in a full-scale fmn ex, preferably two-sided, lasting 10-15 days under realistic conditions & should cover fol: [Long MPC] - 4
(a) Long appch march with full loads on man pack & mule pack basis.
(b) Maint. by air.
(c) Practice in ops of war, exercising cdrs & staff in realistic comd, staff & adm responsibilities.
(d) Casevac.
