EP6 Flashcards
(19 cards)
What systems are operated using the hydraulic system?
Flaps, speed brakes, power brakes and landing gear
What systems are inoperative with complete loss of hydraulic quantity?
Flaps (remain in selected position), speed brakes (blow down), power brakes/anti-skid, and normal landing gear extension
What is the normal hydraulic pressure?
1350-1550 psi
The hydraulic system normally stabilizes at what pressure?
1500 psi
How many hydraulic pumps do we have?
2 engine-driven variable displacement pumps
Will hydraulic systems work normally with only one hydraulic pump operating?
yes
If the HYD LEVEL LO annunciator illuminates, what should your initial actions be?
Limit the use of hydraulic components to minimum necessary and land as soon as practical. Be prepared for total hydraulic loss. Reference Hydraulic System Malfunctions Hydraulic Level Low checklist.
After prolonged flight is it acceptable for the H PMP PESS LO annunciator to illuminate when extending the gear? Why/Why not and what can you do to help recover the pressure?
Yes, hydraulic fluid is cold soaked and more viscous. Increasing N2 within limits can assist with recovering normal hydraulic pressure
What does the illumination of the L or R H PMP PRESS LO annunciator indicate and what should your initial actions be?
Less than 750 psi hydraulic pump pressure, refer to the Hydraulic System Malfunction system, low hydraulic pressure checklist
How do you stop hydraulic fluid flow to the engine driven hydraulic pumps in an emergency?
Pressing the LH or RH ENGINE FIRE PUSH or LH/V or RH/V CLOSE switch lights
Should you execute the alternate gear down verification procedure if hydraulic pressure is not within the normal operating range?
No - accomplish the emergency gear extension checklist.
How much does landing distance increase with 0 hydraulic pressure?
Landing distance increases by 90% of the 30F landing distance due to the increased threshold speed of a flaps up landing in combination with diminished braking capability of an emergency brake stop. Reduce gross weight to reduce landing ground roll.
Approximately how long does it take for the gear to extend using the emergency extension procedures?
30 seconds
The emergency brake cylinder provides pressure for how many applications of the emergency brake?
7 to 10 or 7 to 9 if nitrogen pressure was used to retract the main gear doors (after emergency gear extension)
Should normal braking be attempted when using the emergency brake system?
no
Does the anti-skid system work with emergency braking?
no
What does an ANTISKID FAIL annunciator mean and what should you do?
A malfunction has occurred with the anti-skid system. Braking will revert to normal brakes with no anti-skid protection. Refer to ANTI-SKID FAILURE Checklist.
Where do you find landing distance adjustments for landing with no anti-skid protection?
In the Approach and Landing section of the 1-1. Correction factors are located in the “NOTE” section at the top of the applicable landing Distance OR Landing Ground Roll charts. Also found in Tabular Data Notes in the IFG.
After landing, do not perform any after landing checklist items until when?
The aircraft is clear of the active runway.
