Extending the theory of planned behaviour Flashcards
(11 cards)
The sufficiency assumption
the constructs and relationships in the theory of planned behaviour are sufficient for explaining peoples intentions and behaviour
what do we need nin order do add other vairables
it needs to predict over and above or independently to those other variables.
Ajzens theory of planned behaviour
open to the inclusion of additional predictors if it can be shown that they capture a significant proportion of the variance in intention or behaviour after the theorys current variables have been taken into account
anticipated regret
various worries that that beset a decision maker before any losses materialize
desscriptive norms
contrast with the concept of subjective norms, which is an injunctive norm, reflecting what others think
if we are interested in the relationship between two variables
then we compute the bivariate correlation between them
if we are interested in the relationship between several variables
an outcome VARIABLE, THEN WE USE MULTIPLE LINEAR REGRESSION
if we are interested in whether variables predict an outcome variable over and above other variables then we use
hierarchichal multiple regression
if the sufficiency assumotion is correct
then descriptied norms and anticipated regret will not be associated with intentions, once attitudes, norms and percieved control
moral norms
an individuals beliefs about the moral corectness or incorrectness of performing a behaviour
self identity
salient and enduring aspects of ones self perception
