What are Briefs
One sided written documents filed with the court before oral arguments begin
What are oral arguments
Once the supreme court accepts a case, it sets the date when the lawyers will present their oral arguements
What is the court in conference
The chief justice presides over a closed door conference in which justices present their views on the case at hand
What is Majority Opinion
Announces the court’s decision in a case and the reasoning on which it is based
What is Concurring Opinions
Authorized by justices to emphasize a point that was not made in the majority decision
