guidance and feedback Flashcards
(19 cards)
knowledge of performance
is how well you did something, (how well a performer executed a skill, not on the outcome)
knowledge of results
how well an action you did was done. ( did you do it well or bad)(( performers score, time, distance or position)
intrinsic
eedback that you give yourself, and what you feel about your performance ( you can sense it, by seeing, hearing)
extrinsic
feedback comes from an outside source like parents, coaches or even a video (part of cognitive phase)
importance of recieving feedback
identifies a performers strengths and weaknesses to allow them to improve
Helps to develop a sense of trust when feedback comes from a coach
Motivates a performers to want to improve
Allows a performer to start developing methods of intrinsic feedback to gain greater control over their performances
Stops a performer from practising incorrect techniques
what are the 4 types of guidance
visual
verbal
manual
mechanical
mechanical guidance
(not human, for example when you do a flip, you can be attached to a rope/elastic which helps you to fully complete it and keep the speed)
manual guidance
(guides you through the movement)
what is guidance
Help & instruction given to guide learners through movement patterns, skills and techniques, helping them to acquire and improve skills
what is feedback
feedback is information a performer receives about a skill or performance
difference between feedback and guidance
Guidance is given before or during the movement while
feedback is the information about the movement after you have performed it
benefits of manual guidance
- can be used in all stages of learning
- can reduce risk and increase safety
disadvantages of manual guidance
safeguarding issues
can become dependant on it
disadvantages of mechanical
expensive
benefits of mechanical
offers safety and reduces the risk of injury when learning complex skills.
Allows a performer to build confidence.
benefits of visual guidance
is often quick and easy to do or provide.
Can easily be provided with modern technology such as iPads.
Allows performances to be recorded and rewatched to identify strengths and weaknesses.
disadvantages of visual guidance
Requires demonstrations to be correct as incorrect demonstrations can show the performer the wrong technique or movement patterns.
advantages of verbal guidance
Allows a coach or teacher to questions a performers level of understanding
Can be provided immediately.
good for all stages of learning
disadvantages of verbal guidance
Requires instructions to be detailed and concise.
not good for visual learners
