• irritated, sore, tender to touch

Pathogenesis
A
• bacterial infection
• blockage and infection of an eyelash follicle or gland

Treatment
A
• warm compress
• topical antibiotic ointment
• incision and drainage if persistent
• systemic antibiotics if associated with pre-septal cellulitis
