Lecture 11- Lean engineering planning Flashcards
(8 cards)
What is the Ship design phase blueprint?
-Concept phase- Basic idea, general arrangement and performance prediction
-Basic/Functional design- Much more detailed
-Detail design: 3D modeling, every small detail is checked and finalized
-Production documentation: Extract plans, drawings, part list for contractions
-Follow up- Engineers support during actual building
Give some examples of what is NOT lean in shipbuilding
-Moving materials unnecessarily
-Waiting for tools or instructions
-Making too many parts
-Reworking defective parts
-Not using works full skills
Planning in shipping?
Its three of them
-Level 1: Master plan- General timeline with the big picture
-Level 2: Procurement and production plans
-Level 3: A much more detailed plan
What are the three purchase categories in procurement
-Lump sum agreements= High importance items
-Frame agreements= standard parts in large numbers
-Direct purchase= small items with low risk
Variation order (VO) means?
A formal change to the original scope of work during a project and can be caused by design errors, owner request, supplier delays or new requirements.
Red- dot meeting means?
Is a focused team meeting used in shipbuilding to quickly identify and remove obstacles that are blocking process.
The purpose is to focus of Red- dot meeting means?
-What is blocking the process
-Who is responsible for solving it
-What is the deadline
-What resources are missing (people, tools, documents, space, materials)
After ending a project or even during the building, the team must collect lessons learned are?
- What went wrong
- What worked well
- What to improve
