16
Q

how is yellow urine produced ?

A

reabsorbed bilirubin excreted in urine

17
Q

what do bile acids conjugate with to create bile salts ?

A

glycine and taurine

18
Q

how is bile salts recyled ?

A

liver- bile duct- duodenum- ileum- hepatic portal vein- liver

19
Q

what are bile acids synthesised from ?

A

cholesterol (0.5g/day)

20
Q

what are the 3 layers of the gallbladder ?

A

rugae mucosa
muscularis (smooth muscle)
serosa

21
Q

how many times does the gallbladder concentrate bile ?

A

5-20

22
Q

how does CCK control bile secretion ?

A

causes the sphincter of oddi to relax and gallbladder to contract which discharges bile into the duodenum

CCK also increases pancreatic enzyme secretion
